absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Hello there bloggies! No, your eyes do not deceive you, I am back! The past few months have been really stressful, what with work, family issues, uni etc, and unfortunately I just didn't have the time or the inclination to blog. BUT, I'm determined to get back on track and I think it's good to have a hobby, so here I am!

My Latest Haul :)

Hello bloggies!! I would first like to say a big thank you to all my lovely readers who have stuck by me despite my distinct lack of pennies lately and therefore my distinct lack of reviews!! Secondly I would like to say that the other day I treated myself to a few bits (yey!) and would like to share my treasures with you all!!
First up is these little beauties, currently on offer at Superdrug, 2 for £4.99. I've been desperate to try this 'instant oomph powder' since i first saw it reviewed on a blog about a month ago. I really wish I could remember who's review it was so I could credit them for introducing me to this beautiful find. My hair is thick but definitely lacks OOMPH, particularly at the top near my roots (and my rather flat side fringe) and this wonderful creation solves that problem in seconds. I shall be sure to add some before and after shots in a separate post to demonstrate the brilliance :)
Next up is a selection of products to pamper my poor neglected feet. The 'Cracked Heel Repair Cream' and the 'Intensive Revitalising Foot Spray' were both on a 2 for £4.99 offer which saved me almost four pounds in total. They both smell fresh and minty, which was a huge hit with my cat who decided to give my toes a good old lick after I'd applied the repair cream!! The foot file was £4.99, it's not brilliant and isn't my first choice of foot file but it'll do the trick until I can splash out on something a little pricier that I've tried, tested and fell in love with (my little secret for now!!)
Next we have a highly recommended eye primer from everyone's new favourite brand MUA. For some reason I couldn't get this on the website, and my local Superdrug is shit, but I trotted further afield and finally found it! Woohoo! I felt that this little product was a MUST HAVE, for reasons that shall be revealed...
...NOW!! TAA-DAAAA! How beautiful is my new baby? Not only is she full of various shades of pearl/matte eyeshadows just waiting to be played with...she was totally free! Yep, you heard. Currently MUA will send you this Immaculate Collection Eyeshadow Palette (worth £8) if you spend eight pounds on their website. That was one offer I just could not refuse. To make up the eight pounds I got another Heaven and Earth Palette (I love it that much!) and my highly coveted GOING FOR GOLD LIMITED EDITION OLYMPIC INSPIRED PAN OF GLITTERY WINNING GOODNESS.
As you can tell I was just a little bit excited :)
Have you taken advantage of any good offers lately? What were they?

Ps - Did you think I'd sign off without proof of my cat doing his own product review?! ;)

I'm rubbish with titles.

On Monday I picked up these little goodies from Aldi, as I have heard a lot of good things about their Lacura range and at about £1.50 per product they were a steal! Everyone laughed because the cream is 'anti-wrinkle' but surely waiting until I've actually got the wrinkles to use the product would defeat the object?! Anyway I have used it for the past couple of nights and I am pleased so far. It's got a thin texture but isn't oily and greasy, and it kinda smells like old ladies and soap - but not in an entirely unpleasant way haha! The eye cream doesn't seem to have a scent to it, but you only need the smallest amount for each eye and it's dispensed through a tiny nozzle which means I can't get right in and have a sniff unfortunately. Have you ever tried Aldi's Lacura range? What did you think?
The last glossybox of my subscription arrived last week. Again, it was a bit hit and miss, and I've decided not to renew and try a different beauty box instead. I may review a couple of the products in the box as and when I try them, but from what I've read from other blogs my opinions are pretty much widely shared.
It's been so hot the past couple of weeks and I've been totally paranoid that my deodorant won't do it's job properly!! So I picked up this body spray on offer in Asda for £1 and it smells wonderful, although I must admit it was the packaging that made me go for it in the first place!
On a kind of unrelated note, a week or so ago I won a Facebook competition to win a copy of the latest novel by Guillaume Musso...and I won! I don't think I've ever won anything before haha! I'm looking forward to reading it :)

Apologies for absence!!

Hi bloggies, sorry I haven't been around much lately, I've just started a new job (yey!) and it has kept me very busy! I'm absolutely loving it so far. I've got 38 hours next week so bare with me! Here's a picture of me on my first day looking nervous (you'd think I'd never done this job before!)

Casino Royale!

On Friday night I went out with my mummy, my grandma and my three aunties. We went to a casino in Manchester, had a lovely meal and then spent the evening at the roulette table until 2am! We all started with £10 each, I came home with £30 and mum came home with £200!! It was such a fantastic (and different) night out. I'm going to start saving up so that Karl and I can have a night out there after Christmas. There's restaurants, a cinema and bowling on the same complex so I'd like to do a bit of everything if possible! Anyway, here's some pictures!
Have you ever been to a casino? If not, I'd definitely recommend it! :)

Hoola Girl.

Today I did something that I haven't done in a very long time. I posted a photo of myself on Facebook that was totally natural, i.e. no instagram filters or clever cropping. The reason for my bravery? Bronzer. Or, more specifically Hoola by Benefit. I have owned this bronzer for a good while now, but for some unfathomable reason I stopped using it?! Anyway today I applied it for the first time in ages, and that - coupled with my eyeshadow from my fantastic Mua Heaven and Earth Palette - made me feel absolutely fantastic about myself! I basically applied the bronzer all over my face on top of my normal powder and I was good to go! Here's the picture:
And here is the bronzer:
(Picture taken from the Benefit website as my Hoola is absolutely wrecked!)

Take a moment out of your day to be inspired and humbled.

Ben Parkinson.
Lance Bombardier Ben Parkinson was so horrifically injured during by a Taliban mine in 2006 that doctors told his family that he wouldn't survive, let alone ever speak or walk again. Yet here he is in 2012, alive and more determined than ever! Ben walked the whole 300 metres of his part of the Olympic Torch Relay, and it was very emotional watching the footage! Ben has done, and continues to do, so much for charity. He's a true inspiration. Ben, you're my hero!

GlossyBox July 2012.

Drum roll please...

TA DAAAA!
I am really pleased with everything I got in this months box, and it's definitely made up for feeling a bit 'meh' about last months! Anyway, on to what was inside...

By far the star of the box, a HD brows 'brow & eyes' kit, full size and worth £19.95! I got "Bombshell" and because my eyebrows are very dark i'll probably only be able to use one of the colours on them, but I don't mind so much because the other three colours will be lovely as eyeshadows! deep!

Jelly Pong Pong "Irish Cream Pavlova" for lips and cheeks. This smells AMAZING. It's full sized and worth £10! It's not something I'd have bought for myself as I'm not a massive lip gloss fan, but I'm really happy I got it in my GlossyBox and I'm looking forward to trying it out.

Mini Elizabeth Arden Skin Balancing Lotion SPF 15. This is my second favourite item in the box! It also came with a few other Elizabeth Arden tester sachets. This cream smells lovely, and is a nice thin consistency which leaves your face feeling fresh. I'm applying it before bed and I'm looking forward to seeing how my skin feels in a week or so!

Finally a moisturiser-come-bronzer and a little shampoo. I'm looking forward to trying out the moisturiser and seeing how orange I turn out haha (kidding!), and shampoo is just shampoo to me but hey it's definitely something I'll use!
Overall I was very pleased and it brightened my day, as I've been quite poorly for the past week or so.

Did you receive a July GlossyBox? What did you think?
